Israeli Cuisine
In 2013, Roger Sherman, an award-winning filmmaker, traveled to Israel with Michael Solomonov, the Israeli-born chef whose Philadelphia restaurant Zahav was named the best restaurant in America by the James Beard Foundation in May. The result of their visits to restaurants, wineries, home kitchens, markets, and street vendors was the 2016 documentary “In Search of Israeli Cuisine,” which illuminated the diversity of that country’s previously little-known culinary scene.
In a program organized by Hamptons Doc Fest, Mr. Sherman will be at the Amagansett Library on Saturday at 6 p.m. to present a dozen scenes that were not included in his film and to talk about his experiences and discoveries. The filmmaker is a James Beard Award winner himself for “The Restaurateur,” a portrait of Danny Mayer, and has an Emmy, a Peabody, and two Academy Award nominations to his credit.
Seating is limited, and reservations have been requested at 631-267-3810.
