The East Hampton Historical Society has arranged a tour of Box Hill, the historic private Stanford White compound in St. James, on May 30. A chartered motor coach will leave Mulford Farm at 3 p.m. and arrive at Box Hill at 5.

The group, which will be limited to 20, will meet the architect’s great-grandsons, Sam White, also an architect, and Daniel White, a lawyer, who, with his wife, Betsy, represents the fourth generation of the family to live on the property.

After a brief introduction by Sam White, visitors can freely tour the house and grounds and enjoy a reception. The 78-acre estate, developed between 1885 and 1906, includes many of the innovations that made McKim, Mead, & White one of the most famous architectural firms of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The tour will leave Box Hill for East Hampton at 7 p.m. Tickets are $200, of which $125 is tax-deductible. Those interested have been asked to email [email protected] and send or deliver a check payable to the historical society at 101 Main Street.
