Classical for Katy Fund

    Classically trained musicians ages 11 through 17 will perform works by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Albeniz, and Beethoven at a benefit concert for the Katy’s Courage Fund on Friday, May 3, at Guild Hall’s John Drew Theater.

    The musicians will include Leo Panish, a 15-year-old violinist who attends East Hampton High School, and Sam Kramer, a pianist who attends the Ross School. Also performing will be Benjamin Pereira of Southampton High School and Matthew Maimone, Emmanuelle Bernard, and Christopher Ritter from Pierson High School. Dropping in from college will be Chris Beroes-Haigis on cello and Maxfield Panish on violin.

    The award-winning young musicians will help to celebrate the life of Katy Stewart, a Sag Harbor student who died from a rare form of liver cancer. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $15 to support the not-for-profit organization’s work on behalf of pediatric cancer research, scholarships, and creation of a childhood bereavement center on the East End.
