Cindy Jones, a well-known hairdresser who worked at salons from Southampton to Sag Harbor over the years, died on Jan. 12 at Stony Brook University Hospital. She was 67. Her brother, Bill Jones, said the cause of death was an embolism from a series of medical problems.

“She rolled, permed, and teased her way into the hearts of all the women and men whose hair she cut and styled,” her family wrote. Clients thought of her as an artist, who “worked her magic with the comb.”

Among the salons she worked at were Chez Joey, a well-known spot on Main Street in Sag Harbor during the 1970s. She was still working and had a chair at Hairitage Creations in Southampton.

Her brother said she would be remembered for her big smile and kind words. “She had a huge heart,” he said, and “was very, very funny — naturally funny.”

Born Cynthia Ann Jones in Southampton on Feb. 7, 1948, she was one of three children. Her parents were Claude Jones, a former Sag Harbor Village police officer who served as the Southampton town clerk for 26 years, and the former Anna Maria Trimpin, whose father had been a mayor of Sag Harbor. She grew up on Division Street and continued to live in what had been her parents’ house there. She attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Sag Harbor, graduating in 1966, and then went to a beautician’s school in Hempstead.

Ms. Jones’s marriage to Val Miller ended in divorce. She is survived by their children, Donna Miller of Hampton Bays and Kevin Miller of Sag Harbor. In addition to Bill Jones, who lives in Southampton, she is survived by a sister, Corinne Jones Reilly of Sag Harbor, as well as a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Another sister, Claudette Jones Harrington, died in 1980.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sag Harbor on Jan. 18, followed by burial at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Sag Harbor.

Memorial donations have been suggested to the Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 2725, Sag Harbor, or the Sag Harbor Fire Department, P.O. Box 209, Sag Harbor 11963.

Correction: Cindy Jones's name was Anna Marie, not Anna Marin as previously reported.
