The family-friendly East Hampton Ladies Village Improvement Society summer fair returns for the 122nd year on Saturday, offering live music, plenty of food, the traditional Playland children’s area, shopping for thrift store clothing and toys, and a carousel.

It happens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the L.V.I.S. grounds at 95 Main Street, where this year there will be magic shows with Magic Jeff from 11 a.m. to noon and a book signing, also at 11, with John Aldridge and Anthony Sosinski and their “A Speck in the Sea: A Story of Survival and Rescue.”

An array of auctions will be held. One of them is a “buy it now,” or BIN, auction, with items that can be purchased during the fair or in advance by calling the L.V.I.S. office at 631-324-1220.

There will also be a less expensive auction, similar to a raffle, in which participants can buy a group of tickets and enter them toward certain items. The silent auction will take place throughout  the day, with the drawing at the end of it.

Being auctioned are a seven-night stay at the Royal Automobile Club in London, two tickets to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” a private nighttime art tour of the gardens at the LongHouse Reserve, a Bottega Veneta cross-body bag, dinner for 12 at home with a private chef, a round of golf at the Maidstone Club, a Holly Hunt walnut dining table, and many others. A list can be viewed at lvissilentauction.com.

The opening bid for each is half of its value. There will be no online bidding this year, but those who are unable to attend the fair can call Matthew at 917-734-5952 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to place a bid.

The fair’s proceeds will be used to support the L.V.I.S. in its mission to keep East Hampton beautiful and offer college scholarships to high school students here.
