The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will kick off the weekend tomorrow at 7 p.m. with its Maritime Film Festival, consisting of 14 short films, all under five minutes, that reflect filmmakers’ and artists’ appreciation of the sea.

Founded by Andrew Poneros, a sailor and artist, and Timothy Regan, it aims to explore the human legacy of life and expedition on the water and to create an arena for artists and filmmakers to share a deeper understanding of our relationship with the sea. Tickets are $10, free for members, students, and children.

The museum will present its first Summer Family Party on Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5. Featured activities will include art projects for families with Billy Sullivan, whose work is represented in the museum’s collection, and the brothers Steven and William Ladd, whose work will be exhibited at the Parrish in the fall.

Other activities include informal hip-hop dance lessons led by instructors from the Broadway Dance Center, an art scavenger hunt in the galleries, and the creation of original flip books from skits recorded on camera. Tickets to the party, a benefit for the museum’s year-round initiatives, are available at parrishart.org for $110, $100 for members, $85 for children, and $75 for children of members.
