Hampton Beverage Closes, Building for Sale
Hampton Beverage East, in the East Hampton building that is also home to Goldberg's Famous Bagels, closed unexpectedly at the end of last month, with a note posted on the door announcing that "owner disagreements" had forced the closing.
The store, which opened in December 2015, was owned by Matthew Worrell and his son Brendan Worrell, who continue to operate a Hampton Bays branch of the business. Neither could be reached for comment.
The building at 100 Pantigo Place is for sale for just under $6 million. "The property has been on and off the market for a while," said Justin Agnello, one of the Douglas Elliman agents who holds the listing. The lot comprises 1.5 acres and contains 45 parking spaces. It is owned by three partners, said Mr. Agnello, one of whom is being forced to sell as the result of a court order.
The nearly 11,000-square-foot building contains three separate units, two of which are now vacant. Goldberg's, Mr. Agnello said, is on a month-to-month lease. Churchill Wines and Spirits, which occupied the retail space between Goldberg's and the beverage store, has been closed for some time.
A buyer would have the option to retain the three units or combine the property into one larger commercial space, said Mr. Agnello.
