The Illustrator of Eloise Is Having an Open House
The East Hampton residence of Hilary Knight, the illustrator of the “Eloise” books and so many more, will be open for a book signing and tag sale on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4. While there will be no original Eloise illustrations for sale, antiques and decorative furniture will be on offer, and visitors can see a hand-painted jungle mural jam-packed with monkeys, one of whom happens to be reading “Eloise.”
While Mr. Knight is signing copies of the 60th anniversary edition of “Eloise,” an edited version of the HBO documentary, “It’s Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise,” featuring Lena Dunham, will be running continuously. The house and property are for sale, but Mr. Knight has left Manhattan behind and will be living full time in East Hampton. The estate sale will take place at 1 Squires Path.
