Update, Nov. 20: East Hampton Village police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that caused one of them to roll over on the afternoon of Nov. 12 after one of the drivers apparently ran a red light. A Subaru rolled over several times after it was struck on its driver’s side by a Ford pickup truck at the intersection of Newtown and Cooper Lanes at about 2:30 p.m., Chief Gerard Larsen said last week.

It took East Hampton Fire Department volunteers about 45 minutes to extricate Donna Symer, 51, of East Hampton from the Subaru, which came to rest on its driver’s side. She was then airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Patrick Bezubek, 54, of Lauraville, Fla., and his passenger were taken to Southampton Hospital. Chief Larsen said neither driver admitted to having come upon a red light. Mr. Bezubek had been driving down Cooper Lane from Cedar Street, and Ms. Symer was driving on Newtown Lane, when the accident occurred. Police checked the light and believe that it was functioning properly at the time of the accident, Chief Larsen said. Speed may have been a factor, he said. No tickets or charges were filed.
