Awards for Ads

The Montauk-based ad team of Lynn Blumenfeld and Jill Fleming took home fistfuls of awards recently for their company, blumenfeld + fleming, from the international Hermes Creative Awards.

Blumenfeld + fleming is an advertising, Web, and logo design firm with headquarters in Montauk. The company was founded by Ms. Blumenfeld and Ms. Fleming, two former Madison Avenue creatives, in 2002. Their clients include Suffolk County National Bank, Southampton Hospital, Gosman’s, Landscape Details, and Advantage Title.

Among the accolades the company received were two platinum awards recognizing an ad campaign for Southampton Hospital’s Breast Health Center, an Advantage Group brochure, and the logo designed for Ecological Landscape Management. Altogether the team took home an even dozen awards, including a gold for a bumper sticker designed for the Concerned Citizens of Montauk.

The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals working in traditional and emerging media. It is judged by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals — several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, and freelance professionals.

There were over 4,400 entries in the 2010 competition and roughly 15 percent were recognized. Examples of the firm’s work can be found online at blumenfeldandfleming.com.

Running and Shoe Demo

Gubbins Running Ahead in East Hampton and the I-Tri girls will hold a clinic on midfoot running today at the store, which is at 54 Park Place. Michael Blanchard, a representative of the Newton running shoes company, will give a presentation on the natural running movement. Newton’s entire product line has been designed to encourage a natural running technique of landing on the midfoot to forefoot.

I-Tri is an East Hampton program that aims to foster self-respect, personal empowerment, self-confidence, positive body image, and healthy lifestyle choices in adolescent girls through physical fitness and nutrition.

The free event starts at 3:30 p.m. More information is available by calling the store or Theresa Roden at 902-3731.

Distinctive Dunes

Distinctive Resorts and Residences — a luxury resort, condominium, and cooperative operator on the South Fork — has started the 2011 season by expanding its portfolio with the addition of Ocean Dunes in Amagansett. Ocean Dunes has 63 apartments that are available for purchase or rent. It is on four acres on Bluff Road.

Adam Manson, the managing partner of Distinctive Resorts, acquired the Panoramic View in Montauk in 2007. The Panoramic started life in 1957 as a motel and has gone through several renovations and reincarnations over the years. In the past six months, Distinctive Resorts has closed a number of deals in excess of $3 million there. Mr. Manson has said that residential sales at the Panoramic View have far outpaced the last two years, as luxury buyers have returned to the market.

Distinctive Resorts said that over the winter, the Panoramic View had pre-booked 70 percent of its summer-season resort rooms.
