Music to Ring in the New Year

If shivering for 12 hours in Times Square isn’t your thing, if your villa in Aspen or Gstaad is snowed in, and if philosophical differences discourage an evening at Mar-a-Lago, take heart, South Fork year-rounders! There are plenty of options to ring in the New Year on the South Fork, and if music is your thing, these venues have got you covered. 

At Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor, the Dave Kellan Band will entertain revelers from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Michigan native and his bandmates are regulars at the waterfront venue, which features live music year round. 

Dinner seatings are 5 to 8:30 p.m. ($120 per person) and 9:30-11 p.m. ($135, includes party favors and a champagne toast at midnight). Prices do not include taxes, alcohol, or gratuity. The same goes for the menu at Lulu Kitchen and Bar, also in Sag Harbor, where Alfredo Merat, who has a Thursday evening residency, will be on the guitar there from 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. The party starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Main Street hot spot, which features an open kitchen centered around a wood-burning grill. 

The first seating for dinner is 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. Guests making reservations for the second seating, at 8, will be greeted with a glass of bubbly on arrival, and a four-course menu will be served. Party favors will flow with the music at 9. The cost is $125 plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 631-725-0900. 

Farther west, the Southampton Social Club, which closed for the winter in October, will reopen for its seventh annual New Year’s Eve bash, offering three tiers of fun and D.J. Loki spinning all night. 

The silver package ($95 per person) offers a top-shelf open bar from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., passed and stationary hors d’oeuvres, a champagne toast at midnight, party favors, and live coverage of the ball drop at the aforementioned Times Square. For the gold package ($150), add a four-course dinner with wine and cocktails to all of the above. Seatings begin at 7 p.m. The platinum package ($200) includes the above plus a private table with bottle service. One bottle of liquor or champagne is included.

The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett will reprise its musical lineup of the last few years, with the guitarist G.E. Smith, who lives in the hamlet, leading a bluesy trio comprising Fred Cash Jr. and Abe Fogle at 8 p.m., $40. At 10, Montauk’s own Nancy Atlas Project will ring in the new year, also $40.

Back in Southampton, New Life Crisis will rock in the new year at the 230 Elm Ballroom. The big night starts at 8 and includes hors d’oeuvres, dinner, an open bar, dancing, and a toast at midnight. The cost is $85 per person. Call 631-377-3900 for reservations. 

Staying in Southampton, the Tres Amigos will entertain revelers from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Union Cantina’s New Year’s Eve fiesta. The party starts at 9. The fiesta package ($75 per person in advance, $90 at the door) includes top-shelf open bar until 1 a.m., passed and stationary hors d’oeuvres, a full dinner buffet, coffee and dessert table, party favors, and live coverage of the ball drop at Times Square. Tickets, and the menu, are at unioncantina.net. 

The bar and restaurant will also be open until 8 for regular a la carte service. 

For those who can’t wait until nightfall, Ludmilla and Marcello will get the party started with Brazilian and bossa nova sounds from noon to 4 p.m. in the tasting room at Wolffer Estate in Sagaponack. The tasting room will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

The new-ish Wolffer Kitchen Amagansett, on Amagansett Square, will ring in the vineyard’s 30th year and a yearlong celebration of Christian Wolffer’s vision on New Year’s Eve. There will be live music in the heated patio lounge from 6 to 9:30 p.m., and a D.J., dancing, pizza, and a champagne toast starting at 10. 

Seatings for a prix-fixe dinner ($100 per person) are at 6, 8, and 10 p.m. and are available for groups up to six (larger parties have been asked to contact Paul at [email protected] for accommodations).
