Karyn Mannix, an East Hampton artist and gallerist, will open the Mannix Studio of Art on Friday, March 12, at 38 Gingerbread Lane in East Hampton. The school will conduct classes taught by classically trained instructors for students of all ages.

Figure drawing from live models, using materials such as charcoal and graphite, will be offered for students over 16. Students ages 6 to 13 can enroll in “Art of the Masters,” where they will study and imitate artists ranging from Michelangelo to Banksy. Classes that focus on underpainting, glazing, and color theory will be conducted for ages 8 to 15.

The studio also plans to offer workshops in circus arts, cartooning, sewing, writing, photography, sculpture, magic, and guitar. Classes will be held throughout March and April, with an opening celebration, featuring a rock ’n’ roll band, planned for May 28.

Fees range from $30 per session for children to $50 per session for older students, with discounts for multiple week packages.
