New Plan for Water Cistern

By
Star Staff

After a plan for a water cistern on high ground in Amagansett ran into opposition from neighbors last spring, the Suffolk County Water Authority regrouped and will now hold a public hearing on a new concept on Monday at 6 p.m. in the East Hampton Library.

The proposal is for a 900,000-gallon partially underground concrete tank on an existing water authority site on Cross Highway off Cranberry Hole Road in the Devon Colony. The tank would extend no higher than 10 feet above the ground; the previous concept was for one that would be 35 feet high and 90 feet in diameter.
