‘People’ Live
Guild Hall will screen a National Theatre Live presentation of “People” on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the John Drew Theater. In it, Alan Bennett, the writer, is reunited with Nicholas Hytner, the director, and the actress Frances de la Tour, with whom Mr. Bennett worked on “The History Boys” and “The Habit of Art.”
“People” is the sixth of Mr. Bennett’s plays to have its premiere at the National Theatre in London. Following its original run there, “The History Boys” transferred to Broadway, winning the Tony Award for best play in 2006, and toured internationally before being turned into a movie, which was also directed by Mr. Hytner and featured Ms. de la Tour in the cast. Mr. Bennett and Mr. Hytner also collaborated on “The Madness of King George,” the 1994 movie based on Mr. Bennett’s play. “The Habit of Art,” which was their last stage production, was broadcast as part of National Theatre Live in 2010.
General admission tickets cost $18, or $16 for members. Tickets are available at guildhall.org and theatermania.com, at the box office three hours prior to curtain, or by calling 1-866-811-4111.
