A celebration of the life of Peter Lowenstein of Montauk, who died on Friday, will be held at Rick’s Crabby Cowboy on East Lake Drive in Montauk on June 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. Mr. Lowenstein, who was born in Germany, was a childhood survivor of a Nazi camp. After coming to the United States, he studied chemical engineering at Pratt Institute, then served in the Army, before operating the American Renolit company. He retired to a life of activism and activity in Montauk. Mr. Lowenstein was 83 and had been in poor health for about two years. An obituary for him will appear in a future issue.
