A Publishing Panel Convenes

Let’s face it, the publishing game is a tough nut to crack — now more than ever, economically speaking. Thus the explosion in self-publishing and the potential interest in a panel charged with examining “What’s New in Self-Publishing and Small Presses,” which will convene on Wednesday at 7 p.m. as part of Stony Brook Southampton’s Writers Speak series.

Among the participants is Kamy Wicoff, the author of “I Do but I Don’t: Why the Way We Marry Matters.” She is a co-founder of She Writes Press, a “curated” self-publishing outfit for women, and she’ll be joined by two of the press’s South Fork authors: Sande Boritz Berger, a graduate of the campus’s M.F.A. program in creative writing and literature who recently came out with “The Sweetness,” a semifinalist for Amazon’s Breakthrough Novel award, and Celine Keating, whose second novel, “Play for Me,” is forthcoming. Judy L. Mandel, the author of a memoir, “Replacement Child,” rounds out the panel.

The meeting place for the free talk is the Radio Lounge, upstairs in Chancellors Hall.
