Sandra Jarvis, 66
For Sandra Jarvis, her children and grandchildren were her life. The resident of Cosdrew Lane, in Northwest Woods, died on Friday at Stony Brook University Hospital after a brief illness. She was 66, her family said.
Ms. Jarvis worked in a variety of food-service roles, and will be remembered by longtime residents from her days as a waitress at such well-loved East Hampton restaurants as Eddie’s Luncheonette, the Grand Cafe, and Brothers Four Pizza on Newtown Lane, as well as Buoy 11, Rocking Wells (now home to John Papas), and, most recently, the Springs General Store.
Her family said that she was a very hard-working person and acted as caregiver to her mother until she only recently became too sick to continue.
She was described as a free spirit who loved music — from the Rolling Stones to Willie Nelson to Peter Tosh — and dancing. Reading, long walks, and woodland hikes were among her other pleasures.
She was born on Aug. 31, 1951, in Huntington to Harold Jarvis and the former Alice Leedham, and graduated from East Hampton High School.
Her brothers and sisters, Linda Mackey and Alice Sheridan of Piedmont, Ala., and Charlotte Jarvis, Tonya Bennett, and Sarah Scainetti of East Hampton, survive her, as do her children, Rhonda Daniels, Jason Kulp, and Skyler Boothe, all of East Hampton, and nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and 12 nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her longtime companion and best friend, George O’Sullivan.
Ms. Jarvis was cremated. A celebration of her life will be announced.
Memorial donations have been suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at stjude.org.
