Vehicle Rolls Over by Round Swamp Farm
Update, June 30: A woman was taken to Southampton Hospital Tuesday morning after her Subaru rolled over near Round Swamp Farm in East Hampton. East Hampton Town police said the accident occurred when she tried to pass a Ford pickup truck on Three Mile Harbor Road.
Capt. Chris Anderson said Noelle Haas of Sag Harbor, 48, had acknowledged trying to get past Frank Dill, 64, of East Hampton. A witness told police that Ms. Haas had tried unsuccessfully several times, and that Mr. Dill had sped up, not giving her enough room to get by. When the Subaru collided with the pickup truck, it overturned.
East Hampton Fire Chief Ken Wessberg said the car landed on its side about 100 yards past the Round Swamp Farm stand. The driver was not trapped, but had difficulty getting out because of the car’s position. The department’s heavy rescue squad cut the windshield to allow her to exit on her own, and the East Hampton Village Ambulance Association took her to Southampton Hospital.
Three Mile Harbor Road was closed in both directions for about half an hour while emergency personnel worked. No tickets were issued and no arrests were made.
