Wainscott School Talk

By
Christopher Walsh

An open meeting about proposed affordable housing developments in the Wainscott School District is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the St. Michael’s senior citizens housing complex on Montauk Highway in Amagansett.

Kathy Byrnes, a co-manager of the Windmill Village and Windmill II senior citizens housing developments in East Hampton as well as the St. Michael’s apartments, attended Tuesday’s meeting of the Amagansett School Board to ask for its support. The proposal has met with “some defiance” from the Wainscott School Board, she said, and asked the Amagansett board to send a representative to the meeting.

Ms. Byrnes said that every district’s school board and hamlet’s citizens advisory committee has been asked to send a representative as well.
