Robert Wilson, the founder and artistic director of the Watermill Center, was honored at the White House on Sept. 12 as a recipient of the 34th Annual Praemium Imperiale Global Art Prize, which was presented by the first lady, Jill Biden, and Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former United States senator and secretary of state.

The other honorees were Vija Celmins, a painter who has a house in Sag Harbor, Olafur Eliasson, a sculptor and installation artist, Diebedo Francis Kere, an architect, and the musician Wynton Marsalis.
