Christine Sampson, who has been deputy managing editor of The East Hampton Star since April 2020, has been named director of community engagement at LTV Studios in Wainscott, effective Tuesday.

Ms. Sampson’s duties will include the development and funding of a local news show; growing a membership program, volunteer relationships, community integration, developing a new mobile app, and establishing more educational opportunities. She will work closely with Michael Clark, LTV’s executive director, Josh Gladstone, the creative director, and the board of directors.

“Chrissy has the much-needed experience in the area of community engagement through her years with local publications and her award-winning reporting on many different topics,” said Mr. Clark. “She brings new ideas in terms of educational programming and community outreach to the LTV team. We are ecstatic to have her on board.”

A full-time South Fork resident since 2015, Ms. Sampson first contributed to LTV’s programming during the height of the pandemic, when she helped with social media engagement, enlarged the number of YouTube subscribers, and told stories through blog posts. She also co-anchored LTV’s “Facts at Five” news show, an early sample of what TV news in East Hampton Town can look like.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining a very talented and energetic team,” said Ms. Sampson. “A televised local news program will provide a whole new way for community members to stay informed.”

In June, Ms. Sampson received the 2024 Narrative Reporter of the Year award from the Press Club of Long Island. She is the co-director of Stony Brook University’s Robert W. Greene Summer Institute for High School Journalists.

Founded by Frazer Dougherty with Marty Katz and Jill Keefe, LTV began cablecasting from Dougherty’s garage on Springs-Fireplace Road in 1984. Since then it has grown from a shoestring operation into a multifaceted organization that broadcasts government and school meetings and a wide range of original community-based offerings. It also hosts art exhibitions, cultural events, theatrical and musical performances, and educational programs.
