Alastair Gordon on Buckminster Fuller

Tue, 08/05/2025 - 15:45
Alastair Gordon will hold forth at LongHouse on Buckminster Fuller, whose "Fly's Eye Dome" is one of the venue's landmarks.

Up next in the Long Island Modern series at East Hampton’s LongHouse Reserve is “Buckminster Fuller in Full,” a talk by Alastair Gordon, an award-winning critic, cultural historian, writer, and filmmaker, on Sunday afternoon at 3. Fuller’s “Fly’s Eye Dome” is one of LongHouse’s most iconic landmarks.

Drawing from his time researching at Stanford University’s R. Buckminster Fuller Collection and a commissioned (but unpublished) biography for the Buckminster Fuller Institute, Mr. Gordon will offer insight into the life, work, and far-reaching ideas of one of the 20th century’s most radical thinkers.

Mr. Gordon has published 28 books on art, architecture, and the environment, and is at work right now on a documentary about the architect Norman Jaffe.

Tickets are $35, $25 for members.
