The Sagg General Store, the historical building on Sagg Main Street in Sagaponack that is occupied by Pierre’s Market and the village’s post office, is on the market for just under $4 million.
Karen and Rich Thayer, the sellers, are fourth-generation owners of the 1878 structure and previously operated a store there.
According to Susan Ratcliffe of Brown Harris Stevens, who holds the listing along with her colleague Christopher Burnside, Pierre’s Market has a lease through 2028, and the space must be used for a mercantile business.
The post office has a right to renew the lease in July 2025 for five more years, Ms. Ratcliffe said. Although the new owners would not be required to keep the post office as a tenant once the lease was up, “it’s been there since the store was built [and] it would be awful if the new owner did not keep it,” she said.
