A Southampton Elementary School student has contracted Covid-19, according to the School Covid Report Card, a state website that tracks cases in public and private schools and colleges.
Nicholas J. Dyno, Southampton's district superintendent, said the student had not been on campus before the diagnosis because in-person learning only resumed on Monday of this week. "As per our protocol, the district notified the Suffolk County Department of Health, who confirmed the case and advised no further action is required on the part of the Southampton School District," Dr. Dyno said in a letter to parents this week.
It is the only case of Covid-19 in a South Fork public school district, according to the state website. From Montauk to Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor, none has reported any cases. The Hayground School in Bridgehampton has not had any cases either, while the Ross School and Avenues in East Hampton have not yet reported any data. One case was reported at Westhampton Beach High School recently.
The website is at schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov and is updated daily.
