Two Contested School Board Races This Year

Thu, 04/22/2021 - 07:49

Five candidates are seeking three seats on the Bridgehampton School Board and two candidates are vying for one seat on the Springs School Board this spring in the only two locally contested races. The vote is on May 18.

Barbara Dayton, the president of the Springs board, is facing a challenge from Hella Drew. In Bridgehampton, where three seats are up for grabs, the candidates are Ronald J. White, the board president, Michael C. Gomberg, a former board member, and Angela Chmielewski, Jo Ann Comfort, and Dwight E. Singleton. Two longtime board members, Lillian Tyree-Johnson and Doug DeGroot, are not seeking re-election.

Elsewhere, Christina DeSanti, Justine Limonius, and Sarah Minardi are running unopposed to keep their seats in East Hampton. Nick Finazzo, a Montauk School Board member, and Dawn Rana-Brophy, the vice president of the Amagansett School Board, are also running unopposed.

In Sag Harbor, where school board races are usually contested, the two candidates for two seats on the board are Jordana Sobey, who seeks her second term, and Ryan Winter.

Lauren Thayer in Sagaponack and Kelly Anderson in Wainscott are seeking re-election without competition.
