The Bridgehampton School on Wednesday warned families about a troublesome TikTok account called "bhssecretspy" that has been "disseminating videos that are derogatory in nature," according to an email from Michael Miller, the school principal.

The operator of the TikTok account has also been posting Bridgehampton School yearbook photos from prior years, Mr. Miller said.

Attempting to remove the videos, the district has launched an investigation and contacted its Southampton Town Police resource officer. Access to TikTok on the school's internal network is no longer available.

"Please be assured that our school district takes these matters very seriously," Mr. Miller wrote.

As of noon Wednesday, the content of "bhsecretspy" appeared to have been removed. The account had 12 followers and 18 "likes."

Mr. Miller encouraged parents to "have conversations with your children who are on TikTok in order to discuss the importance of digital citizenship and proper ways to utilize technology." He also requested that people file complaints about the account so it can be banned, and asked anyone with additional information to share it with the school administration. The phone number is 631-537-0271.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
