Town Hall Meeting on Mash Park

The Sag Harbor School Board has scheduled a town hall-style meeting for Thursday, Sept. 15, for a presentation and question-and-answer session about the proposed $13.5 million bond intended to cover renovations and upgrades at Mashashimuet Park.

The meeting will take place in the Pierson Middle and High School auditorium at 6:30 p.m., with a virtual option available to the community via Zoom. People can also write to the district clerk, Mary Adamczyk, with questions ahead of time; her email address is [email protected].

A presentation will also be made at next Thursday’s meeting of the Noyac Civic Council, to be held via Zoom at 7 p.m. A link will be posted at noyac.org. The community will vote on the project on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Updates to Public Comment Policy

After a discussion during Monday’s meeting, the Sag Harbor School Board has indicated it may update its official policy concerning public comment sessions at meetings.

Speakers from the community will still have two separate opportunities to address the board, though the proposed change will limit them to one three-minute comment session during a public input period at the beginning of each meeting. Further comments can be made during a later public input period.

The policy change will get an official first reading at the next board meeting on Sept. 19, pending advice from the school attorney.
