During the Parrish Art Museum’s free Harvest Welcome Day on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., families will have a chance to tour the galleries and take part in a community art project and art workshops and activities throughout the day.
The community project, a Group Action, is brought to the Water Mill museum by the Inside Out Photo Project, founded by the French artist JR. From 1 to 4:30 p.m. visitors can have their picture taken in a photo-booth truck and then reflect on their community for an audio recording that will be part of a “Portrait of Our Community” section on the Inside Out Project’s website. People in more than 150 countries and territories have already contributed to this project.
The museum will offer tours of its exhibitions at 11 a.m., noon, and 2:30 p.m., screenings of “Wrinkles of the City, Havana, Cuba,” a short film by JR and Jose Parla, at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 3 p.m., workshops between 1 and 4, and a reading of “Queen Bee Finds a Home,” a children’s book by Bernadette Ruggiero about making a space for honeybees at the East Hampton Town Airport.
