Walking in a Winter Wonderland

For kids in need of winter vacation activities, the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton has a lineup of all-ages, nature-oriented programs between Tuesday and Friday, Dec. 29, that promises active, educational fun in Vineyard Field, behind the museum.

On Tuesday, the theme is “exploring nature with our five senses.” The Wednesday program is a scavenger hunt and next Thursday it’s a “pirate treasure” hunt. On Friday, Dec. 29, the theme is “animal signs and phenomena.”

Participants should dress appropriately for the outdoors. Each program is one hour long, starting at 10 a.m., and costs $10 per child and $15 per adult. Admission is free for museum members, and advance registration is required for everyone.

Also at SoFo, the Young Environmentalists Society, for kids 10 to 16 who have an interest in “how we live on this planet now and in the future,” will meet at 10 on Saturday morning. Spanish translation is available for this free program.

The museum can be phoned at 631-537-9735 or reached online at sofo.org.
