Halloween in Sag Harbor

Spooky-Palooza, a full day of Halloween fun for kids and their families in Sag Harbor, happens on Saturday. At 11 a.m. there will be a screening of “The Addams Family” (1991, rated PG-13) at the Sag Harbor Cinema, followed by crafts at The Church from 1 to 3 and a costume contest and party at Bay Street Theater from 3 to 5 p.m. Whole-day passes cost $20 for children under 12, $30 for adults and older children, and can be bought at sagharborcinema.org. Tickets to each individual event cost $14 for kids and $18 for adults and are sold at the door based on capacity. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Participating restaurants are offering a 10-percent discount on dinner for day-pass holders.

The John Jermain Memorial Library will have a Monster Mash dance party on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. for students in kindergarten through third grade, with crafts, games, and other fun. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

The next day, the annual Ragamuffin Parade, a costumed stroll down Main Street for families hosted each year by the village’s chamber of commerce, steps off from the Sag Harbor Launderette at 1 p.m. There will be more fun on the lawn of the Customs House afterward.

The Pumpkin Trail, in which children can trick or treat in the downtown business district, takes place on Halloween proper, next Thursday, from 3 to 5 p.m. You’ll know which shops are participating by the pumpkin signs in their windows.

Literally a Night at the Museum

The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will welcome families tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m. for games, arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, and a screening of “Night at the Museum” (2006, rated PG). Those attending in costume will be eligible for a sweet treat, according to an announcement. Snacks, beverages, and other treats will be available for purchase at the Parrish Cafe. Tickets cost $20 for adults ($12 for those who are museum members), $5 per child, or $35 per family of four at parrishart.org.

More for Halloween

Children 3 to 12 have been invited to the Most Holy Trinity School on Meadow Way in East Hampton on Saturday for pumpkin painting with Project Most. From 11 a.m. to noon, kids will get a real pumpkin to decorate however they like (an adult must accompany kids under 5). Admission costs $25 per person.

Also Saturday, Project Most’s Sewing Club will make custom fabric trick-or-treat bags from 1 to 2:30 p.m. For kids 7 to 12, both hand and machine sewing will be taught. The cost is $25 per student.

A Halloween Bingo party for kids 5 and up takes place on Tuesday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. at the same venue. The party includes music and spooky coloring pages; costumes will be welcomed. The cost is $25 per child.

Project Most also has a custom trucker-hat design workshop for students in fifth through eighth grades on Monday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Led by Andy Piver of the Dragon Wagon comic book shop on wheels, participants will use a heat press to make their own designs on trucker hats. The cost is $25. Registration for all Project Most activities is at projectmost.org.

The Haunted Library Is Back

The East Hampton Library’s Halloween festivities are coming up. First, today from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., teens are invited to decorate the Young Adult Room and earn one hour of community service each. The big day is Saturday, with an all-ages Haunted Children’s Carnival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., when the library promises “something for everyone.” There will be a spooky movie, pumpkin decorating, Halloween trivia, contests, and more.

On Tuesday, teens can drop in to decorate masks from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and on Wednesday, the movie “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” (2019, rated PG-13) will be screened for teens at 4:30 p.m. And next Thursday, for the littlest ghouls and boys, Circle of Fun will have a Halloween theme at 9:30 a.m. Registration for library programs ahead of time is required and can be done via the event calendar at easthamptonlibrary.org.

All About Ducks and Frogs

The Montauk Library will host people who work at the Suffolk County Farm Museum and Education Center on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. for a program all about ducks. Appropriate for children 3 to 5 with an adult caregiver, it offers stories and a hands-on meet-and-greet with ducks. Sign-up is at montauklibrary.org.

At the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton on Sunday, the focus of stories and lessons will be the tree frogs, wood frogs, and toads that inhabit the local ecosystem. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. and costs $15 for adults and $10 for children; museum members receive free admission. Registration is at sofo.org.
