Preventing Youth Drug Abuse

Wed, 11/27/2024 - 10:58

In partnership with the East Hampton Town Police Department, East Hampton High School will host a workshop for parents next week at the East Hampton Library to address trends in youth drug use. There will be a presentation in English on Wednesday at 6 p.m., with an equivalent Spanish-language program next Thursday at the same time.

“We will discuss the substances that are endangering adolescents and how we can work together to protect our children,” Sara Smith, East Hampton’s principal, wrote in an announcement. “Our mental health staff will be part of the evening to discuss positive ways to speak with adolescents about drugs, alcohol, and peer pressure.”

From the Police Department, School Resource Officer Tim Tierney and Sgt. Ken Alversa will be on hand for the conversation. More information can be had by calling the school office at 631-329-4130.
