Robots and More

On the Project Most lineup of activities this weekend is a Cubelets Robotics challenge on Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon. Children 5 to 12 can design and build their own robots using block-like units that “sense, think, and act” when arranged in certain ways. The cost is $25.

Another kids’ activity on Saturday, this time from 1 to 2 p.m., allows them to play with their food — for educational purposes, of course. Again for kids 5 to 12, the challenge is to “engineer” a structure using healthful foods as the building blocks, then “demolish” them by snacking on them! The recipe is free of nuts but may include other allergens. The registration fee is $25.

Other Project Most activities include early-learning play groups, Ninja Action Academy, tumbling, tutoring, and more, for which details and sign-up links can be found at projectmost.org.

Race, Taste, and Paint

For middle school students, the East Hampton Library has a Mario Kart tournament coming up tomorrow from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Snacks will be served and a winner will get a $25 Amazon gift card as a prize.

For high schoolers on Tuesday, there will be a taste-testing challenge in which participants will sample and rate snacks from Italy. The fun runs from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The library will convene high school students on Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in celebration of World Kindness Day. The project will be rock painting to create messages that brighten someone’s day.

Next Thursday, a therapy dog will be in attendance for teens who want to unwind with a friendly companion from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. And for children 3 to 6 that day, an autumn-theme craft project — foil-printed tree art — will happen from 4 to 5 p.m.

Sign-up is online at easthamptonlibrary.org for all library programs.

A Day for Sports

On Monday, when schools are closed in observance of Veterans Day, Hub 44, the sports training center on Tan Bark Trail in East Hampton, is offering three hours of active fun for kids 8 to 12. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be games of baseball, kickball, soccer, football, and other sports, plus a pizza lunch available for an additional charge. The cost is $100. Sign-up is online at hub44rsf.com.

Down the Yellow Brick Road

Bay Street Theater is seeking participants for a youth theater workshop of “The Wizard of Oz” that begins Nov. 23 and culminates with a performance on Dec. 21. The teacher is Bethany Dellapolla, an in-demand teacher and award-winning actor who has taught and performed across Long Island and in New York City. The workshop is for kids 7 to 14 and costs $450; registration is at baystreet.org.

Spine-Chilling Fun

The Amagansett Library’s Spine Breakers Book Club, for teens who love suspense, mysteries, true crime stories, and spooky reads, will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday to discuss the book “This Is Our Story” by Ashley Elston. There will also be snacks and other activities related to the book of the month. Teens can register for the club online at amagansettlibrary.org.
