Teen Thespians Take on ‘Godspell’

The curtain rises tomorrow on the latest South Fork Performing Arts youth musical theater production, “Godspell,” at LTV Studios in Wainscott. The show features 12 performers from high schools in East Hampton, Southampton, Bridgehampton, and Sag Harbor, plus the Ross School and Our Lady of the Hamptons.

The play was originally created by Stephen Schwartz, the Academy and Grammy-winning composer who later wrote songs for the smash hit “Wicked.” It premiered on Broadway in 1976 and earned a Tony nomination for best original score. In the musical, different storytelling methods and musical styles are used to tell the parables of Jesus with a focus on “kindness, tolerance, and love,” the directors said.

Show times are tomorrow and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2. General-admission tickets cost $27.99, including an online service fee, and can be bought via the link at southforkperformingarts.org.
