Technology is essential for a student’s learning experience in schools today. This is why Springs School provides students with Chromebooks, which are used to complete activities and administer tests at both the classroom and state levels. Teachers are also able to connect with students using the Chromebooks by creating personal lessons for those who need help.
As awesome and necessary as the computers are, many of them malfunction on a day-to-day basis. Some common issues students face are problems with the Chromebooks’ charging ports, keyboards, or mouse pads. The repairs became very overwhelming for one person to manage alone, so to solve this issue, the school was able to introduce an additional information technology (I.T.) position.
The new team member is Robert Cheadle, whose job includes maintaining the school’s technology and software. He joins Christian Figueroa, a previous I.T. staff member, in the I.T. department.
When asked why he applied for the job, Mr. Cheadle said, “I like to solve problems.” He explained that his favorite part of the job is “getting to work with different people and technologies.”
Mr. Figueroa said the addition of Mr. Cheadle helps to alleviate the stress of the job, adding, “He helps with splitting the work and repairing the Chromebooks.”
Julia Stillman, a sixth grader at Springs School, is just one of the students who are grateful for the I.T. team’s ability to fix almost any Chromebook problem. “They are the people helping the students succeed and finish their work on time,” Julia said.
