Spotlight on Springs Fifth Graders

Guild Hall’s Student Art Festival is ongoing through Feb. 26, but this weekend holds a special highlight: Viv Corringham, an artist and composer, will join Springs School fifth graders for a choir performance on Saturday at 3 p.m.

“Using deep listening methodologies, field recording exercises, and experimental voice practices,” the artist and students “have developed an ‘Eco Choir,’ “ Guild Hall said in an announcement. “In this performance, the Eco Choir will present an improvised performance to the English folk tale ‘The Buried Moon.’ “

Springs families can enjoy free admission and will receive a discount at Louise and Howie’s Coffee Bar on site at Guild Hall. After the 30-minute performance, the gallery will be open for a reception and self-guided tour until 5.

Also as part of the festival, on Monday, Liz Joyce of Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre will come to Guild Hall for a Creative Lab session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. that is part lecture, part interactive demonstration. Tickets cost $15 per person, or $10 for members. More information for all Student Art Festival events is online at guildhall.org.
