Time to Hunt for Eggs

Just in time for the first day of spring, and with Easter right around the corner, it's officially egg-hunting season for kids.

"Bring your baskets and join the fun," said the Ladies Village Improvement Society in announcing its annual Easter egg hunt planned for Saturday at 11 a.m. sharp on the grounds of the nonprofit organization's headquarters on East Hampton Main Street. There's a dedicated area for the youngest participants, and prizes are awarded to those who find the golden eggs. The Easter bunny will also be on hand for family photos.

There will also be egg hunts on Saturday at the East Hampton Youth Park in Amagansett and at the Children's Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton. CMEE's egg hunt takes place from 10 a.m. to noon, and will include music, crafts, and games. The cost is $5 for museum members and $25 for nonmembers. Sign-up is online at cmee.org, and advance registration is a must. The hunt at the youth park happens from noon to 1. There is no cost to attend, but families who want to take part have been asked to donate a dozen plastic eggs and a bag of non-peanut individually wrapped candies, which can be dropped off today or tomorrow at the Youth Park on Abraham's Path or at the East Hampton Town Parks and Recreation Department behind Town Hall.

In Montauk, the annual egg hunt is the following Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. on the downtown green for children 10 and under. Baskets are provided, and there will also be games and other activities. The phone number to call for more information is 631-668-2428.

Also on March 30, Marders in Bridgehampton will host an egg hunt for children from 10 to 11 a.m. The phone number to call for more information is 631-537-3700.
