On March 22, Springs School held its annual World’s Fair celebration. It was hosted by the Springs School Diversity Club and its adviser, Vicki Firemark. “It is about celebrating other countries and their cultures,” Ms. Firemark said.

Many classes volunteered to create a large drawing of a specific country’s flag. In addition to the flags, the gym had all sorts of decorations from many different countries.

This event is open to community members, who enjoyed delicious international food. Examples included empanadas, pasta, fairy bread (a pastry treat from Australia), tacos, samosas, and more.

The World’s Fair also featured activities including face-painting, and a selfie station, and there was a miniature, three-dimensional Great Wall of China, which was made by Beverly McGrath’s third-grade class. Some of the countries represented at the World’s Fair were Ecuador, El Salvador, the United Kingdom, India, Barbados, Nicaragua, Mexico, Costa Rica, Belgium, and Australia.

There was African drumming and singing by the fourth-grade girls. People also played a life-size Connect Four game, Uno, Guess Who, Giant Jenga, Mancala, and Candy Land.

There was definitely something for everyone at the World’s Fair, and it was a night to remember.
