Guild Hall’s Teen Arts Council is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 academic year. The council is open to any East Hampton-area high school student with a love and appreciation of the arts.

A spot on the council is a paid position. According to the Guild Hall website, members will “work to curate public programming, advance their creativity, increase Guild Hall’s outreach to local teens, and learn through collaboration with Guild Hall staff.” Being a member of the council can give teens the chance to see the different opportunities that working in the arts can bring.

The application itself is short, only nine questions, with some aimed at getting at students’ creative ideas. For example, applicants are asked how they would design a “teen takeover,” an event organized by teens for teens, if given the chance. They are also asked to discuss the ways that they personally create, whether through an art club or musical theater. Applicants will also be asked to submit a small portfolio of three to five pieces they have worked on, and a letter of recommendation from a mentor, teacher, or employer.

The Guild Hall Teen Art Council is an opportunity for teens to actively participate and contribute to various creative projects. Applications, which can be found on the Guild Hall website, must be  submitted along with all supplemental materials by Monday, July 1.
