Montaukett History and Art

Students in the fifth through seventh grades have been invited to the East Hampton Historical Farm Museum to learn about Montaukett history, culture, and crafts in a 10-week program on Saturday mornings.

From 10:30 to noon beginning Sept. 21 and running through Nov. 23, lessons and hands-on crafts will cover Montaukett history from the 1600s to the present day. Activities include weaving, clay sculpting, and leatherworking. Enrollment is limited to 10 students.

Advance registration and more information are at 631-329-5720 by Saturday after 1 p.m. each day. The museum requests a $5-per-week donation to cover the cost of supplies.

Grab the Popcorn, It’s Movie Time

The East Hampton Library is the place to be on Saturday for fans of “High School Musical,” a Disney series that flips the script on social cliques, with a get-stuck-in-your-head soundtrack to boot. Starting at 9:30 a.m., there will be an all-day marathon of the G-rated series, which debuted in 2006.

At the Sag Harbor Cinema, the kids’ matinee on Saturday and Sunday is “Chicken for Linda!” This animated, feature-length French film, with English subtitles, is about a mother who goes out of her way to keep a promise to her daughter that there will be chicken on the table for dinner that night. Showtimes are 11 a.m. both days. Tickets cost $14.50 for kids and $18.50 for adults, with a discount available for Southampton Town residents.

Lego Challenge

Teens and tweens are invited to the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor on Wednesday afternoon from 4 to 5 for a drop-in Lego challenge. The goal? Create “the ultimate” Lego construction within a particular theme. Registration ahead of time is not required.

A Jules Verne Mystery

Larry Schwarz will visit the Montauk Library in person on Saturday to read from his novel “The Jules Verne Prophecy,” published in 2023 for middle school audiences. The story centers on the discovery of a dusty old copy of Jules Verne’s collected works, with mysterious codes scrawled inside that lead the protagonist and his friends on an adventure across Paris. Sign-up is required ahead of time via Eventbrite, with a link available on the library’s website.

Totally Turtles

Educators from the Quogue Wildlife Refuge will visit the Amagansett Library on Saturday with live turtles and tortoises for kids to meet and learn about. The discussion will also cover what children can do to help native turtles in the wild. Sign-up for the program, which runs from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., is on the library’s website.

Playtime at Hub 44

Starting tomorrow, Hub 44, an indoor sports training facility for youth and teens on Tan Bark Trail in East Hampton, will host indoor Play Zone sessions. Coaches will lead activities and games for toddlers 12 months to 3 years old from 10 a.m. to noon, and again from 2 to 3 p.m. for kids ages 3 and 4. The cost ranges from $10 to $25 per session, depending on age. Before their children can participate, parents will need to sign a waiver, which can be found at hub44rsf.com.

Swifties Unite

Looking ahead to Sept. 28 and a show likely to sell out, the Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton will throw a mini-concert of Taylor Swift’s greatest hits featuring Totally Taylor, a tribute band. There will be crafts and activities for kids 2 and up starting at 9:30 a.m., with the music starting promptly at 10. The cost is $20 for museum members and $25 for nonmembers; tickets can be purchased at cmee.org.
