Our Fabulous Variety Show

Kids’ Night Out

Our Fabulous Variety Show will entertain children at its Kids’ Night Out on Saturday, giving parents a night to themselves as well, during a drop-off program from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Most Holy Trinity School on Meadow Way in East Hampton. Activities include games, crafts, and movies; pizza, water, juice, and snacks will be served.

The program repeats on Nov. 16 and into the winter and spring of 2025 as well. It is open to kids 4 and up (must be able to use the bathroom independently). The cost is $30 per session per participant, with a discount available for O.F.V.S. Crew families. Parents can also register for all five dates at once for a total of $100. Registration is online at ofvs.org/kidsnightout.

Also through O.F.V.S., there will be a costume swap and sale tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. at the same Meadow Way. location. "Bring your costumes to swap, donate costumes to sell, and come find affordable costumes for your kids this Halloween," the organization said in an announcement.

Fun on the Farm

Autumn is in the air: The leaves are beginning to turn, pumpkin spice is back on the menu at every local coffee shop, and Amber Waves Farm is hosting weekly educational programming for kids.

Running every Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the Little Farmer class is aimed at children 18 months to 4 years old. On Wednesdays, there will be an afternoon mixed-age farmer class for children ages 18 months to 9 years from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Both classes will run until early November. There is a $35 per class fee for the Little Farmer program, $20 per class for the mixed-age group. Scheduling, requirements, and additional information can be found at hisawyer.com/amber-waves/schedules.

Movie Madness

There’s plenty to choose from this weekend at the Sag Harbor Cinema. The family movie matinee, screening at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, is “Pather Panchali.” Released in 1955, it paints a detailed portrait of Bengali rural life during the mid-20th century through the lens of one family and its youngest child, Apu.

For older children and teens, Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman” (rated PG-13) will be playing on Saturday at 6 p.m. This classic incarnation stars Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker.

Admission for both films is $18.50 for adults and $14.50 for children 12 and under, with a discount available for cinema members and Southampton Town residents.

Fun at the Library

Tech-savvy high school students interested in earning community service hours are invited to join Teen Tech Time in the East Hampton Library’s young adult room on Saturday. From 10 a.m. to noon, participants will offer in-person help to adults who need a hand with email, social media, tablet use, and other aspects of technology. Teens will receive two hours of community service in return.

A kids’ origami club will meet at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. For those unfamiliar, origami is the art of folding paper into decorative designs or figures, with no cutting, tearing, or gluing. No experience is required; the group will create one piece of origami together, and then attendees are free to explore the library’s collection of origami manuals.

A therapy dog will be available on Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for teens who want to unwind with a friendly companion. And on Wednesday, teens are invited to drop in for an afternoon of spooky, crafty fun from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The project is a paint-your-own trinket box, shaped like a coffin. Also Wednesday, from 4 to 5 p.m., children 7 to 10 can sign up to make a fuzzy koala pencil topper. Advance registration for all events other than drop-in programs can be done online via the library’s event calendar.

To Practice Reading

From 2 to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Amagansett Library, children up to 12 years old are invited to practice their reading skills with the library mascot, Chase, a golden retriever. Children under 10 require accompaniment by an adult. Registration is online via the library’s event calendar.

A Day for Sports

Grab those sneakers and water bottles: Hub 44 is the place to be, on Tan Bark Trail in East Hampton, this weekend for youth sports. A session for children 8 to 12 runs 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, and a session for those 5 to 7 is scheduled for Sunday at the same time. The registration fee is $100, and there will be lunch available for an additional cost. Sign-up is online at hub44rsf.com.

Imagine and Create

The Hampton Library in Bridgehampton is debuting its new drop-in Creation Station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. There will be a variety of art supplies available for kids of all ages. Advance registration is not required. More information is online at myhamptonlibrary.org.

Sewing and Painting

Project Most’s Sewing Club will take on book pouches on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The program is for kids 7 to 12, and costs $25. Activities take place at the Most Holy Trinity School on Meadow Way in East Hampton.

On Monday and Oct. 7, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., Andy Piver, creator of the Dragon Wagon comic book shop on wheels, will teach a workshop in two sessions on painting miniature fantasy figurines for students in grades five through eight. Admission is $35 per student.
