Glow Dodgeball
The youth sports training facility Hub 44, on Tan Bark Trail in East Hampton, will host a glow dodgeball session for children 8 to 12 on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $40 per participant, with registration at hub44rsf.com.
Board Games and Trivia
Tomorrow is board game day at the Amagansett Library, where a variety of tabletop games will be available for play between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. All ages are invited, and snacks will be served.
On Saturday at 12:30 p.m., the library will host trivia for students in sixth through 12th grades, with a pizza lunch as well. And on Tuesday, kids 2 and up (with an adult caregiver) can make imaginative creations with play dough from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
In the Winter Book Buddies program, which takes place on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. this month, teen volunteers are paired with kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. It’s a win-win for the teens, who earn community service hours, and for the younger kids, who can improve their reading skills.
Registration is required ahead of time for all programs except board game day, which is by drop-in.
Building and Wrecking
The East Hampton Library’s newest program for kids 6 to 10 is the Fort Builders Club on Tuesdays this month from 4 to 5 p.m. (except Jan. 14). The program provides materials “designed for budding architects and imaginative builders” to create play spaces they can be proud of.
After building on Tuesday comes the wrecking ball on Wednesday: An activity for children 7 to 10 takes place from 4 to 5 p.m. that day, this one challenging them to use their STEM skills to make the most destructive wrecking ball they can with the materials available.
Sign-up ahead of time on the library’s website is required for both programs.
Ocean Trivia, Winter Craft
The South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton asks: How much do you know about the world’s oceans? Individual competitors or teams can put their knowledge to the test with a trivia challenge on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
And winter will be the theme when the museum hosts a “stained-glass” window decoration project for kids 6 and up as well as teens and adults on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Each program costs $15 for adults and $10 for kids, and is free for museum members. Registration is at sofo.org.
A.I., the Movie
In addition to the ongoing first-run movie “Mufasa: The Lion King” (rated PG), the Sag Harbor Cinema is screening Steven Spielberg’s “A.I.” (rated PG-13) as its kids and family matinee this weekend. A robotic boy played by Haley Joel Osment struggles to find his place in the world in this 2001 sci-fi film. Tickets are $18.50 for adults and $14.50 for children 12 and under (with a discount available for cinema members and Southampton Town residents).
