The East Hampton Level Playing Field Foundation on Monday announced the recipients of its 2025 scholarships to help defray the cost of college counseling, SAT prep courses, and college visits and applications for “high academically achieving sophomores and juniors.”
This year’s recipients are Colleen McKee, Vicky Chen, and Tammy Tacuri, juniors, and Thuy Nguyen, a sophomore, all students at East Hampton High School.
This is the third year that the foundation has awarded the scholarships. Previous recipients have been accepted to institutions including Barnard College, Johns Hopkins, the University of Virginia, Case Western Reserve, George Washington University, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Southern California, Harvey Mudd College, and the University of Miami.
The foundation’s president, Christopher Kelley, and its board members Tim Brenneman, Tim Garneau, and Charlotte Sasso presented the awards on Monday evening and introduced 2024 scholarship winners, who shared some of their experiences.
“It’s so rewarding to see these kids working so hard,” Mr. Kelley said in a release. “They all have monster schedules packed with A.P. and advanced courses. And they’re all getting amazing grades. But at the same time they’re smart enough to know that that isn’t necessarily all it takes, and getting some assistance in the college search process, the search for substantial financial aid, and getting it for free, can be a game changer.”
