A Program for Young Teen History Buffs

Thu, 02/27/2025 - 11:40
East Hampton Library

The East Hampton Library has invited young teens ages 11 to 14 to become ambassadors for its Long Island Collection, a treasure trove of historical items and documents that draws visitors and researchers from near and far.

In a program on Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., kids will get an introduction to some of the artifacts in the collection, which include a whale tooth and "pirate treasure" from Captain Kidd. They'll learn how to navigate the collections online database, learn about the Revolutionary-era Culper Spy Ring that operated on Long Island, and have a chance to explore some of the historic videos from LTV.

For kids interested in history, it will be a win-win: They'll also get community service credits for attending. Registration is by clicking here.
