For Future Broadcast Pros

Thu, 04/17/2025 - 10:26

Attention future filmmakers and would-be broadcast TV professionals: LTV has put out the call for applications for both its summer intern program and its community scholarships.

The eight-week intern program is open to high school juniors and seniors and college students, who will develop their own projects to be aired on the local Optimum channel, gaining hands-on experience in the process. Applications are due by May 1 and can be found online at the “education” tab at ltveh.org.

And LTV will give out two scholarships to graduating high school seniors living in East Hampton Town or Southampton Town who have “a passion for community media, lifelong learning, and free speech,” and plan to study film, television, broadcasting, or radio. “Ideal candidates will have these qualities: a love of story and a commitment to our community along with a strong belief that all communities deserve to have access to accurate, unfiltered information,” according to LTV’s website.

Students must demonstrate their community involvement and academic achievement, share a link to a short video or audio sample of previous work, and submit two letters of recommendation. Applications are available through the website and must be submitted by May 15.
