For Trustee: Tim Garneau (D, WF)

Thu, 10/21/2021 - 13:25

Tim Garneau is serving his first term with the trustees. He is site coordinator for their horseshoe crab monitoring program and plans to “continue working with Cornell Cooperative Extension on assisting with management and conservation,” he said. “I would also like to promote the use of alternate bait and push toward placing a ban on harvesting of this important species.”

“Water continues to be a priority for me, and the best defense of our water quality is public education,” he said. “All of Long Island is a watershed. In addition to replacing septic systems, we need to conserve water, take shorter showers, do less lawn watering — decrease pressure on our precious water table.” Mr. Garneau worked with the town on a pilot water-bottle refilling station at Ditch Plain Beach in Montauk, “which was a success and will hopefully be rolled out at other town and village comfort stations.”

He is a strong proponent of public beach access and supports the town’s condemnation of Truck Beach, as the town board is considering. He also calls himself a strong proponent of the South Fork Wind farm “and will do whatever possible to make sure it goes forward responsibly.”
