Stirring the Sourdough
Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald are friends and bakers who made bread for some of New York City’s notable restaurants before opening a small bakery, Levain, the French term for sourdough, on the Upper West Side. There are now 15 Levain bakeries across the country, including one in Wainscott.
Ms. Weekes and Ms. McDonald will be the next guests of Florence Fabricant, the New York Times food writer, in Guild Hall’s “Stirring the Pot” series, set for Sunday at 11 a.m. Guests who arrive at 10 can enjoy a breakfast provided by Citarella, and they will have an opportunity to sample Levain’s black-and-white chocolate chip cookie.
Tickets are $35, $31.50 for members.
Pickle Party
At the East Hampton Farmers Market, happening each Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., shoppers who spend at least $20 with the various vendors at weekly markets through Aug. 31, will get a free pint of pickles. The market happens at 60 Spinner Lane off Springs-Fireplace Road, on the grounds of the Calvary Baptist Church.
