As paid parking in Sag Harbor Village has begun for the season and will continue in many lots until the fall, now is the time to take a closer look at the rules.
There are two lots where payment is newly required — the lot behind Schiavoni’s Market on Meadow Street and the gas ball lot on Bridge Street. Paid parking there, which went into effect on May 1, is from 10 a.m. to midnight and will run until Oct. 15.
Sag Harbor has introduced parking stickers for village residents, available at the Municipal Building. They allow parking for free for up to four hours. Village residents can pick up two free stickers, with one additional available for $15. For those living outside the village but within the Sag Harbor Fire and School Districts, up to three stickers can be bought for $15 each.
For nonresidents, there are ParkMobile signs in the lots. The village has introduced free Wi-Fi, under “Sag Harbor Parking,” to help with accessing the app through a smartphone.
As for the big lot on Bridge Street behind the Variety Store and next to the Kidd Squid brewery, there is free threehour parking from 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Twenty-eight spaces on the northern side of the lot are designated for 24hour parking.
At Havens Beach, the parking stickers will allow residents to park all day for free when paid parking goes into effect there on June 14. It will stay in effect until Sept. 4. Nonresidents will need to use ParkMobile; the daily rate is $15.
Long Wharf is also a paid parking area once again, from 10 a.m. to midnight, and it will be so until Oct. 15, but of note there is that the new parking permits for residents have no effect. ParkMobile is in effect, however, and there is a five-hour limit, with the first hour free, the second and third for $4, the fourth for $6, and the fifth for $8.
In all of these lots, volunteers for the Sag Harbor Fire Department and ambulance workers can park for free with a vehicle ID displayed.
Looking for long-term parking? It’s free, for up to three days, at the lots at 31 and 45 Bay Street, over by the Breakwater Yacht Club, as well as in the lot at Division and Cross Streets.
In the lot along Washington Street, across from the Bulova Watchcase building, there is two-hour free parking from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
