Virtual Program for Future Veterinarians

Sat, 01/02/2021 - 11:49

High school students interested in veterinary medicine have the opportunity to attend a Zoom career exploration program hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County Farm and Education Center.

Pre-registration at ccesuffolk.org and registration at suffolkcountyfarm.campbrainregistration.com will be open until the lecture series begins. The online classes are on Thursday evenings, 7 to 8:45 p.m., Feb. 25 to March 25. The registration fee is $100.

Parents are also welcome to tag along for lectures that touch on subjects such as veterinary colleges and admissions information, large and mixed-animal practices, poultry and production medicine, small and companion animal medicine, zoo medicine and exotics, radiology, lab animal medicine, emergency and critical care, and animal behavior.

An in-person tour of the farm and education center can be scheduled for March 6 or 14.

Students will receive a certificate of completion if requirements are fulfilled, and program graduates become eligible for the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association Veterinary School Scholarship.
