For a new, five-week workshop, Guild Hall has partnered with Loot, a Brooklyn comic book store that holds classes for kids.

The weekly online workshop, on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. starting on Jan. 21, will explore faraway universes and heroic protagonists imagined by the participants themselves with an emphasis on storytelling, drama, action, and character development. The $175 program fee, or $140 for members, includes a kit of materials that can be picked up the weekend of Jan. 15. It is recommended for children ages 8 to 12. Sign-up is online at guildhall.org.

Guild Hall is also teaming up with the East Hampton Library for a weekly story time and craft hour on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Ideal for kids ages 3 and up, the program begins Jan. 25 and is free, though advance registration is required. Kits of supplies will be available for pick-up the weekend before each session.

Both the story-and-craft event and the comic book workshop are tied into Guild Hall's Student Art Festival, an exhibit that opens on Jan. 16 as the culmination of months of hard work by local children. This year, the theme is "Past-Present-Future." More details can be found at guildhall.org.
