Petitions for candidates interested in serving on public school boards of education are officially available from district clerks across the state. Paperwork is due to be handed in directly to the clerks by 5 p.m. on April 17; the vote is on May 16.
Candidates must be United States citizens at least 18 years old and be a continuous resident of their school district for at least a year leading up to the election. They cannot be a candidate if they are employed by the school district they are seeking to represent, nor can they be a household resident with or relative of another member of the same board.
